SURVEYING AS A ONE THE BACKBONE IN ANY DEVELOP, DEVELOPING AND DEVELOPED COUNTRY

       Surveying is the one of oldest professions in the world, still the best, lucrative up-to-date and cannot be under-rate in our society, because it’s the “Bedrock of meaniful and any sustainable development” as it is quoted in her motto, because before any development can be lay hands on  the survey of the area must be done by expertise, in other to have Certificate of Occupancy(C of O) of the parcel.

      Actually the profession  as gone beyond the  land survey, and no more limited to landed property alone but now includes water and air known as Hydrographical and Photogrammetry/Remote sensing survey respectively. It  has advanced technologically with the use of sophisticated instruments , the profession  gone beyond the use of chain or tape for measuring the perimeter of land, so as well advance than the use of some of old techniques like: triangulation and trilateration.

      Nowadays almost all the project  successful done in past and the present on going development project, which usually in involves survey practioners /expertise such project includes: Engineering works, Perimeter boundary survey, Political and Health sector, Security sector( Military/Para-military intelligence), Transportation sector(Mapping), Geological projects , and many more.

       As a matter of fact surveying as plays vital roles in the development of many countries in the world. Precisely in some of all the project above which has been highlighted above will be discussed briefly below so as to enlighten and broad Horizon of people in the society, specifically on this profession.

   

   Engineering works: To execute any meaniful project surveyors are to be called on to supplies all the necessary data such as X,Y,Z  (i.e. Northing, Easting  and height of point), before, during and after the commencement of the project so as to ensure necessary work is done, to the meaniful goals set out on for the project,  for instance drainage system, oil/gas/water pipe laying to ensure free flow of liquid or gas, construction of roads, bridges, railways, dams to supply Easting, Northing, Height of actual points, etc.

 Perimeter Boundary Survey: this has caused a lot of atrocities in the society whereby most of the land owners, real  estate owners which  do not involves survey expertise/practionner to handle  survey operation on their lands thereby fall into the traps of the victims may be due to the cheapness in cost, ignorance, or negligence of people which might cost them a lot of money at the end, because with improper survey plan certificate of occupancy will not be issue to the owner of land, which is very useful , in which I will discuss about it usefulness in the next Article.

      Political and Health Sector: survey could standardize and improve our election exercise as well as health, there should be road sign showing nearest polling unit and as well the nearest hospitals along the roadway with their consecutive distance and directions, they should be as well uploaded on all navigational applications such road maps, navigation apps. ,google maps etc. to make life easier and comfortable for people to live.

Security sector( Military/ Para-military): Survey professionals/expertise in this sector are needed for accurate and standard security to reign in the country , because they majorly performs some tasks show map production and map interpretation(to know where some noticeable features are through Topographical map, such as mountains, hills, valley, rivers, streams, marshy area, forest  etc , during warfront.   where to: hide , march pass, to launch missile, and attack enemies , etc.

Transportation sector (mapping): Extensive role has been plays on this sector of  any country …

Wow! Today people can travel by themselves to the place they’ve not being to before, with  the aid of navigational devices or navigational applications on phone with Global Positioning  System(G.P.S).which will shows you direction or route to pass to reach your destination, this is as a of advancement in technology brought survey profession and this is one of the major reasons for calling today’s surveyors “Navigators”.

          Furthermore, survey profession does not limits on land survey, but also plays much  impacts on air and water as well, to the extent no aeroplanes  and ships  cannot without take survey expertise  to lead them  so as to show directions (bearing) to head on due to the fact that the surveyors are to interprets maps which no one else can do, so as to ensures save trip to destination.

Geological projects: After which the geologist has located the area on or beneath the earth surface, then survey will be carried out to determining the extent of the land, i.e mining  survey will be done, the all other necessary data will supply to aid the project.
